From the songwriter

I wrote Wrong Road Out in early March 2012, around the time that Patanjali had not long started playing guitar. He was out of work at the time, which was to become 6 months.

A couple of weeks after I wrote the song I fell down the stairs and broke my leg, which took many months of recovery. I had not long been walking in a boot and the owner of our house wanted us to move, so more delays were put into play.

Once we moved Patanjali decided he wanted to build a new recording studio. Patanjali said perhaps Wrong Road Out should of been called Long Road Out as a joke. (Not Impressed!)

In the meantime, getting more grey hairs waiting, waiting. I also wrote a song about that.

The lyrics are appropriate for the journey it took, but I had no idea about that when it was written. Patience was certainly the lesson and keeping focused on the right track. My original arrangement was stripped back more than what it was to become.

Wrong Road Out is our very first YouTube recording. There were a lot of changes and delays, which is why this song took 17 months before it was recorded. Its also the first song we have performed together as DevaKnighT.

The original arrangement was very different to the one that we actually recorded. This one is a little more uptempo and punchier. After all we had been through to get here, we were certain this had to be the first recording.

Lyrics

Lyrics to Wrong Road Out. ©2012-2013 Devaki Sokaris.

We move along and live our lives
Never knowing what’s around the corner
We take what we have for granted wanting more
Looking for a lifeboat back to shore

Never gonna find a four leaf clover
Need to give it up and hand it over

I don’t know how long its gonna take
There’s so much I don’t know about
I wonder what’s at stake
But one thing I know for sure
I’m not looking for a wrong road out

Signs and symbols seem to confuse me
Steps I take decide a road to follow
Torn and twisted by glamour’s and illusions
I yearn to do the right thing by my soul

Never gonna find a four leaf clover
Need to give it up and hand it over

I don’t know how long its gonna take
There’s so much I don’t know about
I wonder what’s at stake
But one thing I know for sure
I’m not looking for a wrong road out

Don’t wanna let fear get in the way
I know I could be so much more
Pounding waters are at the flood gates
To carry me back to shore

I don’t know how long its gonna take
There’s so much I don’t know about
I wonder what’s at stake
But one thing I know for sure
I’m not looking for a wrong road out.
